SomiSomi is well known among foodies for its unique soft-served ice cream. It has become one of the most Instagrammed ice creams, the brand continues to see a steady growth in followers.

a/k/a creatives was given the opportunity to create new branding for SomiSomi’s kiosk, which was going into the high-end retail area of a mall. Our goal was to replicate the fun and happy feeling that SomiSomi lovers have come to associate with the food, while simultaneously reflecting the luxurious surrounding.

​

SomiSomi’s hallmark white and yellow brand colors were applied though the whimsical yet luxuriously hand-crafted fishscale-shaped tiles that line the higher areas of the kiosk. Delicately sized and cut wood slots with mixture of natural and yellow stain are employed adding unique textures. Alternating wood slots create a sophisticated pattern, reminiscent of undulating ocean waves. Light and airy hues contrast heavy concrete elements, such as the counter, to add visual weight. A communal bench area encourages customers to hang out and snap photos for social media, a free advertisement for the client.

 

After receiving building and health permits in 4 weeks, construction and manufacturing took 4 weeks. The store opened in November, 2017 and is steadily popular.
